Foodie Flash

Tomorrow the Beer Chicks and Cedd Moses’ second annual Downtown Craft Beer Crawl is another sellout, with seven bars, food trucks (including Ludo), and the grand opening of the Beer Chick’s 8th St Bottle Shop. The beer shop will be located in the Golden Gopher, which just so happens to have a to-go liquor license. VIP and Designated Driver tickets are sold out, but you can still get on the waiting list for the  $49.00 regular admission.

Warning; It won’t be long til summertime is through. Rush Street’s Summer Clambake is only happening Friday and saturday nights until Labor Day weekend. Chef Dave Northrup’s bake with clams, mussels, shrimp, and andouille sausage with corn and potatoes is $23 dollars per person. Free parking at the Cardiff, Watseka & Ince parking structures.

Public Kitchen & Bar at The Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel is offering a prix fixe menu with two courses and a cocktail for $45. Between 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. Chef Tim Goodell will be whipping up appetizers like Squash Blossoms with three cheeses and Hatch green chile, and Crab Cake with shaved vegetables in espelette aioli on feuilles des brik. OK, I know feulles de e’rable are maple cookies, but we are going to have to look that one up. OK, apparently it is filo. Way to get all fancy. Main dishes range from the humble but much-lauded Public Burger to Alaskan Halibut with clams and a chorizo broth served with rye bread. Again the cocktails go from the simple to the sublime from sparkling wine to a  Alexandria made with Milagro silver tequila, fruit juices and mint.

Michael Voltaggio’ most-unappetizingly-named sandwich shop, ink.sack opened on Melrose just two days ago.. He is planning on opening his full-service restaurant, Ink, nearby in September. Open Wednesday through Sunday, 11am-5pm.
