LAB ART, the largest art gallery in the United States dedicated to bringing street art and graffiti indoors for public viewing, has opened a new show. Opening tonight and running through January 8, 2012 is Street Art trio (Rabi, Devon and Davey) DD$ – “Everything Popular is Wrong”.
Take a few pop culture icons like Porky Pig, Charlie Brown, Mickey Mouse, or even Louis Vuitton and Jesus. Throw in some sex, drugs and rock n roll, and you have Double D’s. According to their press release: “Each piece developed by DD$ is a three way collaboration. A piece is passed from artist to artist over the course of hours, days or weeks, before completion. DD$’s work utilizes symbols, vibrant colors, bold use of lines, and free flow artistry – culminating in an organic style. With their interpretation of culture through satire and pop surrealism, the collective creates a means for society to humbly digest Los Angeles.”
I say, just let their art speak for itself!
