Faraway, So Close: Photography of the 80s

Do not get this mixed up with the movie! Tonight from 6pm-9pm the Morono Kiang Gallery will be hosting the opening of Faraway, so Close” — photographs that capture “unique moments in Los Angeles during the ’80s.” The event is curated by Shervin Shahbazi and features the work of punk rock luminaries like Ann Summa and Ed Colver as well as Sara Jane Boyers, Willie Middlebrook, May Sun, Mark Vallen, and Richard Wyatt. The exhibit will run through March 31st. According to Morono Kiang Gallery, “Each photograph is a certificate of presence that leads us back to a time that will never be repeated but upon reflection makes the viewer contemplate what has changed and what remains the same.”
