Restaurant Roundup

Saturday, May 12th, Bagatelle Los Angeles will be launching their much-anticipated brunch.  Chef Scott Quinn will be offering “an elegant twist” on the traditional French breakfast. Menu items will include the unusual but intriguing “Maine Lobster Suzette” and “Green Eggs and Ham.” They will also have a personal favorite, banana pancakes! Drinks will include “Les Punchbowls” for sharing. I wonder if they come with long straws like at tiki bars. What a convivial way to start the morning. Bagatelle Brunch will be served every Saturday and Sunday throughout the year – reservations required.

It’s almost Cinco de Mayo! Where will you celebrate? Tortilla Republic, the newly opened modern Mexican restaurant hopes you will celebrate with them. From 12- 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 5, the restaurant and bar will host a Mexican fiesta, with “three bars, including two outdoor patio bars, serving $12 “Corona familiar” and specially priced margaritas, along with a live DJ and a Cinco de Mayo menu of Mexican small plates and bar snacks. At 6p.m., dinner service will commence with optional tequila pairings and feature a DJ spinning ambient music.”

Up until now, you could only enjoy burgers at Vertical Wine Bistro’s Thursday Burger Night. To celebrate May, which is National burger month, the bistro will be serving Executive Chef Laurent Quenioux’s award-winning Classic Kobe and Bison burgers every night. We suggest the shoestring truffle fries on the side. Beer Flight Manifesto Witbier, Eagle Rock Brewery; Barbãr Honey Ale, Belgium; and Arrogant Bastard Ale, Stone Brewing Co. (Escondido, CA) Tuesday – Thursday, 6-10 p.m., Friday & Saturday, 6-10:45 p.m., Sunday, 5- 9:30 p.m. Reservations are recommended, and can be made by calling the restaurant or online via OpenTable.com.

For their cinco de Mayo celebration, The Del Monte Speakeasy will be offering $8 margaritas made with Blanco tequila plus beer and a shot (Bohemia and Milagro reposado) for $12. Other specialty drinks will be:

Anejo smash – reposado tequila, mint, lemon, gran marnier, agave

Medicina Latina – reposado tequila, lime, ginger, agave, Mezcal

Diablo – reposado tequila, ginger beer, lime, creme de cassis

Mezcal dreams – Mezcal, strawberry, lemon, egg white
