Tonight in honor of the Tomato Throwing Festival in Valencia, Spain, Chef Suzanne Goin’s AOC will present a “tomato-centric” dinner featuring pan tomato with heirloom tomatoes,cherry tomatoes and soft ricotta & yellow tomato gazpacho & tomatoes stuffed with crab, candied tomatoes with vanilla ice cream and more for only $50 a person. The dinner runs from 6pm to 10pm tonight only! Reservations are recommended. Note: No throwing tomatoes! 

To celebrate the fresh peaches of the season, Auntie Em’s Kitchen in Eagle Rock is proud to offer Peach Pie, Peach Custard Tart and Peach Whoopie Pies. “Famous for their cupcakes, Auntie Em’s will feature Peaches’n Cream cupcakes daily as well. Items such as a Grilled Peach and Burrata Salad will be available for lunch as a special salad and the weekend brunch specials will include favorites like a Peach Baked French Toast or Peach Compote topped Pancakes.” Auntie Em’s is open Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. and Saturday- Sunday 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. for breakfast, lunch and early dinner service.

On Thursday, August 30, starting at 7 p.m., Locanda del Lago in Santa Monica will transport guests to Lake Como’s famed island, Locanda dell’Isola Comacina with a five-course menu inspired by the island’s celebrated meal. “As a special edition of the restaurant’s monthly Morso della Bestia (or “Bite of the Beast”) whole-animal dinner series, Executive Chef Gianfranco Minuz will incorporate locally sourced seafood and poultry—coupled with produce from the Santa Monica Farmers’ Market —into the traditional Locanda dell’Isola Comacina menu, which has been served for over 50 years to diners traveling by boat to experience the simple, unadulterated preparations of the Bellagio region.” The meal features Market Heirloom Tomato with Meyer lemon and Calabrian oregano, and Whole Arctic Char deboned tableside with lemon and Maldon salt   as well as several other courses. ($42 per person, not including tax and gratuity).  Also enjoy unlimited carafes of red and white table wines that are typically served throughout the Lake Como area (additional $18 per person).The Morso della Bestia series takes place the last Thursday of every month Reservations are recommended and can be made by calling 310.451.3525
