Petra Haden Sings the Movies at The Getty Center

Petra Haden gives a free concert at The Getty on January 26th, performing the painstakingly created vocal versions of movie scores from her album Petra Haden Goes To The Movies. Accompanied by a 16-member choir, Haden will sing a capella the music from movies such as Pyscho (above), Taxi Driver and Superman. The album is due out on the 22nd on Anti Records.

The unique vocalist/violinist, who started out in the 90s band That Dog and later toured with the likes of The Decemberists and Foo Fighters, is especially known for her creative layering of vocals. On her 2005 solo album Petra Haden Sings: The Who Sell Out, she recreated that seminal Who album vocally, including all the instruments and even the fake ads included on the record.

Reservations are required for The Getty concert, which starts at 7:30pm in the Harold M. Williams Auditorium.
