“Romeo + Juliet” at The Historic Los Angeles Theatre

romeojulietCinespia and the Los Angeles Historic Theater Foundation present Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo + Juliet at the Los Angeles Theatre downtown on February 9th. The 1930s movie palace is apparently rarely open to the public, and according to the photo album on the website, it is absolutely stunning.

It boasts a French Baroque-inspired design with a six-story lobby, chandeliers, murals, mirrors, gold leaf angels, and even a crystal fountain. …It has a ballroom for pete’s sake. And the ‘powder room’ looks like where Mombi kept her heads in Return To Oz.

The event includes a full bar with mixologists, and music by DJ David Holmes. Tickets are $15 here.
