All Star Chef Classic This Weekend at LA Live!

1185410_474501809316920_202824528_nUsually when you attend a food event, you have to wait in line for each bite and try to maneuver through the crowd while juggling plates and wine glasses. The people behind the All Star Chef Classic had a genius idea – why not let the guests relax while food is brought to them? And to keep the diners occupied, let them watch the chefs cook.

Final touches are being put on the never before seen Kitchen Stadium which seats 250 fans around a central kitchen. Its adjunct, The Chef’s Tasting Area, will have more traditional stations and family-style seating. Four events will span the three-day festival starting Friday night and lasting through Sunday, March 21-23 .

The French Masters Dinner will be a five course meal with wine pairings hosted by Ludo Lefebvre including some of his mentors from his time cooking in France. Saturday, The All-Star Lunch will be a five course lunch celebrating women in the industry with lunch prepared by Nancy Oakes, Nancy Silverton, Dominique Crenn, Naomi Pomeroy and Waylynn Lucas. Grill & Chill is sadly sold out. Savor the Season is a celebration of fresh, seasonal, local ingredients cooked by masters like Nancy Silverton, David Myers, Vinny Dotolo and Josiah Citrin, There will also be a children’s activities area with face painting, arts and crafts, a kid’s buffet and a mini Fonut lesson. Sign us up for that Fonut lesson!

Chefs from around the world with gather at LA Live in downtown LA. Amongst the 25 all-stars will be hometown favorites David Lefevre, David Myers, Jon Shook, Michael Cimarusti, Roy Choi, Ricardo Zarate, and Ben Ford. From the national stage come the likes of Alex Seidel, Donald Link of Louisiana’s Herbsaint, Graham Elliot, and pioneer of molecular gastronomy Wylie Dufresne. Representing France, we have such luminaries as Michelin-starred Alain Passard, Pastry Chef Florian Bellanger, Pierre Meneau, Inaki Aizpitarte, and Marc Meneau, who once terrified a young Ludo Lefebvre.

If it is not obvious already, this a a selection of what I consider to be the best chefs in LA augmented by some exciting guest stars. It will be a great opportunity to shmooze with your favorite culinary stars as well as enjoying a one-time-only dining experience. Whichever events you choose, or if you go for the all-inclusive 3 day pass, you are sure to remember this event for a long time to come!
