Photo Essay: The Big Bite Bacon Fest

Meat Inc. served Bacon Candy, brussel sprouts with bacon and bacon-wrapped meatballs, all pulled from a very impressive smoker. If there were a Mr. Congeniality award, it would have gone to Big Mista’s, who brought bacon beans and their own version of Bacon Candy. Dia de los Puercos was popular with the crowd and the line seemed never-ending. Slater’s 50/50 wowed the crowd with one of the heartier dishes, 1/4 bacon cheeseburger with egg.

There was a surprising amount of desserts, some of the most interesting being delicious bacon bundt cake, a bacon pop tart and bacon sundaes. Two of the vendors who eschewed bacon were personal favorites, a banana pudding cheesecake and peach cobbler. A well-curated selection of microbrews, which included local favorite Angel City Brewing, kept us hydrated.
