LA Beer Week Has Dozens of Events That Highlight the Heavenly Brew

Starting today, Angelenos will have a great chance to try some delicious beers, ales and foods during LA Beer Week. The LA Brewers Beer Week (#LABW6) runs September 20-28 with lots of events, special tastings and of course great places to have a beer. In its sixth year, the event produced by the Los Angeles County Brewer’s Guild has something for anyone who enjoys a good beer. Here’s a roundup of events for this very special week.

Tonight, Friday September 19th

The Blue Palms Brewhouse will be featuring local brewery Beachwood Brewing. The evening will feature eight beers on tap including Volcanizer West Coast IPA, Kilgore Stout and Knucklehead Red. 6124 Hollywood Blvd,. Los Angeles 90028 323-464-2337

 

Saturday September 2oth

Saturday, September 20th the Beer Week Kickoff is unfortunately sold out. Guests will enjoy beers from over 35 breweries, including the largest collection of LA breweries to be found.

Good Microbrew will be starting LA Beer Week with a California Happy Hour September 20-22. All California brewed pints will be only $5 all weekend. Labeer Flights is running from Sept. 20-28 at Mohawk Bend in Echo Park. Mohawk Bend, dedicated to fine craft beers, will be featuring a rotating selection of beers that will showcase members of the Los Angeles County Brewers Guild. 2141 Sunset Blvd., Los Angeles 90036 213-483-2337

The Federal Bar in North Hollywood will be pairing with Sierra Nevada and letting the well-known brewery take over about half the taps on Saturday night, September 20th. Sunday, September 21st

The Blue Palms Brewhouse will be having a Green Flash Takeover, featuring some of San Diego’s best beers. Green Street Restaurant in Pasadena will be holding a Beer Brunch on Saturday. The six-course brunch menu will be specially paired with local brews from St. Archer, Stone Brewing, Modern Times Beer, AleSmith Brewing Company and Smog city Brewing. Golden Road’s Marketing Manager Christian will be doing a 4-tap takeover at Sophie’s Place in Redondo Beach on September 21 from 3:00 to 7:00pm. The full-service restaurant will be highlighting Golden Road’s excellent brews. 1708 S. Catalina Ave. Redondo Beach 90277. 310-540-8484.

Echo Park’s Sunset Beer Co. is having a Beer Mug Club Appreciation Day on Sept. 21 at 3:00pm. Special craft beers and sandwiches will be paired by a cicerone. Crazy Harry’s Bar will be hosting El Segundo Brewery and starting their weekend with Pint Night on September 21st and 22nd. For Pint night, El Segundo Brewery will be pouring Citra Pale ale, White Dog IPA and Left Double IPA. Plus, all pint drinkers get to keep their glass! Beer Belly is holding a special LABW Brunch, the Modern Times Hangover Beer Brunch, on Sunday at 12 noon to 3:00pm. For this brunch, they are welcoming Modern Times A special selection of draft and specialty bomb beers will be presented and even cold brewed coffee from a tap. 532 S. Sunday, September 21 will be the date of a very special dinner at R/10 Social House. Green Flash Brewing Company will have a special 4-course food and beer pairing dinner highlighting their beers and R/10’s delicious farm-to-table foods. September 21st will be a special day at Angel City Brewery as they host their Oktoberfest. Besides having a chance to enjoy their Oktoberfest Beer, guest can enjoy beer mug races, a stein-hoisting competition, a sauerkraut-eating competition and more. The Oinkster Hollywood will be the location on Sunday, September 21 for a Beer and Bingo Bash featuring Figueroa Mountain Brewing. Long Beach local resident Chris Klein, who handcrafts the noted Ballast Point Brews, will present many interesting brews at The Factory in Long Beach. Also presenting some exceptional beers will be Chris Walowski of Smog city Brewing, another local resident. The event takes place from 12 noon until 6:00pm at The Factory in Long Beach.

 Cinco will open LA Beer Week by featuring a tap takeover by Angel City Brewery. CASKFORCE is Beachwood BBQ & Brewing’s exciting event coming on Sunday, September 21 at 3:00pm. They will be offering selections from five Beachwood Brewing casks from 3:00-9:00pm. The Inaugural Battle of the Beer Bands will take place in Los Angeles at the Bootleg Theater on September 22 at 8:00 pm and September 23 at 1:00pm. The battle is between beer bands, as in bands made up of members from the different breweries. Lucky Baldwin’s, the classic beer establishment in Pasadena, is devoting the entire event from September 20-28 to different events, including celebrating Stone Brewing Company’s 18th Anniversary. Several of Stone’s vintage beers will be on that for the week. An 18th Anniversary Stone Brewing T-shirt will be available, as well as a commemorative glass that can be brought back during the event for discounts on refills. Monday, September 22nd

The Bruery will hold a ‘Pints and Pork 4-Course Pairing Dinner’ at Doowntown Culver City’s Public School 310.  Chef Lauren Kyles will create pork-inspired dishes to pair with The Bruery’s craft beers. Saturday, Sept. 27th

Sunday, September 28th

Pono Burger will be celebrating LA Beer Week with a Beer, Burger and Fries Combo.  Uncle Henry’s Deli will have a special event each day of LA Beer Week. The fun Starts Sunday with a Beer and Root Beer Float evening, returns Monday with Karl Strauss night, continues Tuesday with El Segundo tuesday and continues Wednesday with Yeti Night. Thursday is King Harbor Night, next is Smog City Friday and capping the week off is Bastard Saturday.
