Alice Bag’s “Pipe Bomb for the Soul” Detonates the Crowd at Lethal Amounts

Lethal Amounts was the site of another fabulous event: the book release party for Alice Bag’s new book “Pipe Bomb for the Soul,” which took place Friday night, June 26. Along with reading excerpts from her new book, several songs were performed by Alice and the night’s backing band, which included drummer Slade Bellum (ex-Tribe 8), guitarists Patricia Klein (current Lou Man Group, ex-Patsy), Gabriel Tenorio and bassist Angie Garcia. A fabulous dj set was also provided by Maricón Collective.

It was a muggy night inside Lethal Amounts and out, but it didn’t keep an overflow crowd from packing the gallery to hear Alice talk about her time spent in Nicaragua during the Sandinistas vs. Contras war, which is the subject of her new book.

Alice Bag is busy doing many readings and other events promoting “Pipe Bomb for the Soul” plus community projects that she supports.  You can keep up with Alice’s many activities at her website www.alicebag.com.

About Judy Ornelas Sisneros

I am a native Californian, born and raised in Bakersfield and eventually escaping to San Jose then San Francisco where I spent every free moment in punk and post-punk culture spaces before heading to LA permanently in 1989. I have also spent major time as an AIDS and queer street activist, which today along with my passion for punk/alternative music still informs my personal and social life. I love photography, film and playing punk/post-punk stuff on the bass. My LA Beat contributions are usually photos that give a glimpse into the vibrant art and music scene that makes Los Angeles such an amazing city to live in today.
