Tuesday: Drinking in Tasya van Ree

Hydration is always key

Reception for artist Tasya van Ree, Tuesday October 20, 7-9 pm, 555 Norwich Drive, WeHo.

As the Los Angeles weather morphs and heaves from blistering to blustery, it’s the perfect witchy-woman moment to discover artist Tasya van Ree.

Presented by The Curator LA, the Los Angeles-based van Ree will present new mixed-media collage works which feature her photographs combined with painting on paper. Reception for the artist will be held Tuesday, October 20, 555 Norwich Drive, 7 – 9 p.m., in West Hollywood.

Moody mid-October, threatening rain, whispering toward All Souls Day, seems fitting for a viewing with this shape-shifting artist who moves with a cool appraising stare from beneath her trademark Stetsons through celeb portraits, sweeping large-format vistas, enigmatic handwritten script expanding some of her images, and paint-enhanced collages.

She’s been known to travel with a glass gallon jug of water, adding a bit of O’Keeffe-like mystique as she goes.
