Last Saturday, Shag’s new store on Melrose Avenue in West Hollywood hosted a grand opening soiree. Locally-based artist Shag is known for his counter-culture works inspired by cartooning, tiki culture, local landmarks, and mid-century modern style. The artist, also known as Josh Agle, was on hand to good-naturedly autograph cards and pose for photos. Besides prints and silkscreens, the store sells Shag-designed handbags, lamps, sculptures, household goods and tiki necklaces. Just don’t wear one while surfing. Have you learned nothing from Greg Brady?
