“Big” Jamie Cassius has been a fixture on the LA rock n roll scene for over 25 years. He has worked the door at the Troubadour, Safari Sams, and the Coconut Teaser. He has roadied for a number of bands including the Blasters, Los Lobos, Flesheaters, and Blood on the Saddle. Last July Jamie suffered a stroke while working the first night of the Blasters/X shows at The Observatory in Orange County. He kept working, then collapsed Monday morning. As a result of the stroke, he has neurological damage and is unable to work or drive.

On Saturday, January 9th, some of Big Jamie’s good friends will be playing at Cafe NELA to celebrate his birthday. The Blasters will be headlining, along with Paging Beto, Groovy Rednecks, Electric Children and Red Roses. The door will be $20 and proceeds benefit Jamie. It will probably be your only opportunity to see the Blasters in such an intimate venue. Come on down for a good cause and some great music.
