Days of the Dead Los Angeles Celebrates Women of Horror

Award winning Canadian director Patricia Chica’s short “A Tricky Treat” will be shown Saturday, April 2nd at 2 p.m. at the Los Angeles Burbank Hotel as part of the Days of the Dead Weekend Los Angeles. The “horror-comedy with a twist” runs just over three minutes but there’s plenty of blood and gore to feast on along with some entertaining holiday family values. Chica’s work depicts strong characters using visual ingenuity, delivering thought-provoking entertaining screen stories including “Ceramic Tango” and “Serpents Lullaby.”  She’s also been part of the Soska Sister hosted “Massive Blood Drive PSA anthology for the “Women in Horror Month.” The Etheria Panel will follow at 3 p.m.

Etheria Film Night is an annual genre film showcase screening work directed by women for an industry, media and fan audience. Women have contributed episodes of The Walking Dead, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Game of Thrones. Etheria gives women directors the spotlight, showcasing their talent and contributions to the screen.

Related events include Fridays Women of Horror Panel at 9 p.m. with Camille Keaton “I Spit on your Grave,” Jennifer Banko “Leatherface,” Felissa Rose “Sleepaway Camp” and Leslie Easterbrook “The Devils Rejects.” Saturdays Etheria Panel includes Kansas Bowling, Elizabeth James, Amber Benson, Chloe Okuno, Kristina Klebe and Barbara Stepansky.

Other convention guests include Tobin Bell “Saw,” Fairuza Balk “The Craft,” Sid Haig, Bill Moseley “The Devils Rejects,” Tony Todd “Candyman,” Amber Benson “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” Lisa and Louise Burns “The Shining Twins,” Jordan Ladd “Cabin Fever,” Eileen Dietz “The Exorcist,” Brinke Stevens “Slumber Party Massacre,” Emmanuelle Vaugier “Saw II” Angela Jones “Pulp Fiction,” Jackie Kong “Blood Diner,” Kristina Klebe “Rob Zombie’s Halloween,” Rodney Bingenheimer “B.C. Butcher,” Kansas Bowling “B.C. Butcher.” Martin Kove “The Karate Kid” and Kato Kaelin “B.C. Butcher” will also be in attendance among many others.
