Attila still has a hairdressing salon on the corner of Fairfax and Melrose. He has been cutting the hair of the underground rock stars of Los Angeles for the last thirty years. He even cut Dee Dee Ramone’s hair. Attila was the star of the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics with his Mohawk flags portrait that was featured in the LA Weekly that year. A regular on Night Flight’s New Wave Theater, he seems to always have been a part of the Hollywood art and music scene. Born in Czechoslovakia, he has been living here in America for 36 years and is a welcome delight for the senses. He is the Master of the Mohawk and colorful hair. Attila is also a cartoonist and an all around nice guy.

His opening at MODA was a mix of old and new work. A medley of cartoons and film footage were awash over Attila as he danced and sang songs like “Car Chase.” Poetic prose was flying as if it was being thought up on the fly, yet they were well thought-out verses and choruses.

He presented a slideshow of his creative hairstyles for the past few decades; he is always  on the cutting edge of style. He also invited a friend up to the stage modeling his hand-inked art on a fabric t-shirt.
