Best of 2016 – A Short List

lists

As usual, I spent most of the year listening to, reading and watching older stuff that I probably should’ve absorbed years ago, but here are a few new things I really enjoyed this year:

Albums:

Bootblacks – Veins (review)
Patience – “The Pressure” and “The Church” singles (review)
Womps – Our Fertile Forever (review)
Kate Bush – Before The Dawn

Concerts:

Cyndi Lauper at The Greek (review)

Art Exhibits:

Guillermo del Toro’s “At Home With Monsters” at LACMA (review)

Movies:

“A Perfect Day” (review)
“Sing Street”
“The Mermaid”
“Love and Friendship”

TV:

“The Get Down”
“Vinyl” (cancelled already – figures!)

(I managed to not read a single new book, but 2014’s “Station Eleven” by Emily St. John Mandel was my favorite book this year.)
