Everyone is invited to ‘meat up’ at the Meat Street Meat Festival at the Marketplace this Saturday, April 22, from 11am to 11pm at Santa Ana’s Main Place Mall. Food trucks and restaurant chefs will showcase their meatiest creations for guests to try. Smoked, grilled, braised, fried, on a stick, in a sandwich, on a plate, in a taco, even in desserts—-a cornucopia of meat-based delicacies will be available to pique your taste buds. Beef, pork, ham, chicken, lamb, SPAM and more meats will be featured at the Meat Street Meat Fest. Special events will also be the order of the day, with the Halal Guys creating the world’s largest Halal Guys combo platter and also staging a hot sauce challenge. Burger Monster will be making their Pulgasari Burger, a Korean Angus burger with kimchee aioli, gojuchang BBQ sauce, cabbage slaw, marinated cucumbers, pepper jack cheese and Koream BBQ marinated SPAM. On the dog side, Dragon Dogs will introduce the Foodbeast, a chile verde bacon-wrapped hot dog. Some of the other vendors attending are the Milky Way, Cubed Poke, DogHaus, Elbows Mac and Cheese, Viking Truck, Doner G, Hobo Co. Pizza, Mad Dumplings, The White Rabbit Truck and more.

Chef Jake McPeck, of the Mess Hall Canteen food truck which will be located in the Marketplace section of the Meat Street Meat Festival, had this to say to the L.A. Beat about what he likes:

“I personally love being a part of the Foodbeast Events because it gives me the opportunity to be creative with special items beyond my everyday menu on the truck.

When asked to participate in “MEAT STREET”, I instantly knew I wanted to create something crazy, that brought out your inner carnivore…’ ‘…that’s when I had the idea of the Beef Shank. I wanted to create something that when someone sees it go out our window people stop and point, and say they have to have it! That’s what makes the Foodbeast events fun because to be successful you have to play the game and create something that plays along with the theme. When I think ‘MEAT STREET’, I think of the Beef Shank.”
