Fun and Philanthropy this Sunday in Hermosa Beach

Most of us see the images on the news or social media and wish there was some way we could help those who have recently survived hurricanes. Maybe we even send a donation or give blood. When Betsy Ryan sees those in need, she gathers her 17th Street Mural House posse and organizes a way for us all to spend a day at the beach while helping others.  Betsy called it “Not Alone Star” because “In America we are 50 stars strong.  Texas is not a lone star, neither is Florida, neither are you and neither am I.”

This Sunday, on the 1st of October, people will gather on the South Side of Hermosa Beach Pier to participate in a paddle-out. 100% of the proceeds will go directly to help those in need.

A drone will film and photograph the event from above, capturing the best of humanity coming together in water and on land to help others.

After the paddle out, between 10:00-2:00, Hermosa Beach’s finest restaurants displaying the “Not Alone Star” logo will donate 10% of your dining purchase to hurricane relief. So the fun, socializing and philanthropy will continue. Come down by yourself, bring the whole family, or gather your crew of helpful folks and spend the morning in beautiful Hermosa Beach.

$25 to register and participate in the water.
$10 to purchase an event star. (You don’t have to get wet to be a part of this historic and fun benefit! You can be included in the photo by holding your star and standing on the end of the pier.)
$10 for the drone photo image (Won’t it be fun to pick out you and your friends in the crowd?)
$20 hats available with the Not Alone Star logo
$5 for a raffle ticket with a chance to win a custom long board.

To learn more about the event or to register, go to the website. You can also register at 8:00 am this Sunday on the Hermosa Pier.

Please join us – We are stronger together to help those in need of Hurricane Relief in America.

“You can’t live a perfect day without doing something for someone who will never be able to repay you.” – John Wooden (A sign on the 17th Street Mural House)

“Are you wondering how to help people who have lost so much from the hurricanes?
What if you could help by spending the morning with family and friends in beautiful Hermosa Beach? That is what you call a win-win! See you there!”- Funism

About K.P. Rennie

I am President of The Fun Zone; The Center for the Study of Funism. I can not confirm or deny my involvement in certain random acts of guerrilla chalk art. I will admit to trying every day to anonymously do something nice for someone- anyone. When I write about food, it's because I can't help myself. I love food as much as the next guy, I only write about food I find myself obsessing on. When it comes to book reviews, I only write about books that I am inspired to read more than once, so my book reviews aren't about new releases that I liked, they are about tried and true books that I LOVE. I favor quirky stories, inspirational memoirs, and real life drama. There are many movies and books that I have enjoyed more than once. If you liked any of these, we probably have similar taste- Books: Peter Pan, Choke, A Life Without Consequences, Fight Club, The Adderall Diaries, Lets Pretend This Never Happened, The Glass Castle, Another Bullshit Night in Suck City, Wild, The Tribes of Palos Verdes, Just Kids, Movies: Little Miss Sunshine, Seven Psychopaths, Ghost World, Pulp Fiction, Hook, Big Fish, Reservoir Dogs, Moonrise Kingdom, Being John Malcovich,
