Keeping up with the Foodie Events this Weekend

Even though the food fest season is winding down, there are a lot of events this month to take advantage of the end of summer and celebrate Autumn’s bounty before it starts to get chilly. Here is a roundup.

Off the Hook Seafood Festival – Saturday, October 14th

The 3rd annual Off the Hook Seafood Festival will be happening on the Santa Monica from 4pm until 7pm. The festival is held in honor of National Seafood Month to promote sustainability. Proceeds will benefit the Surfrider Foundation of West LA-Malibu. Some of the best chefs in the city will create plates using their favorite seafood. You will also enjoy live music, interactive displays, games, wine tastings and the annual Oyster Shucking Competition. Some of our favorite participating restaurants include BOA, Herringbone, Enterprise Fish Co. and The Butcher’s Daughter.

There are two parking lots below the Santa Monica Pier accessible via Appian Way from the Pacific Coast Highway. Parking in the 1551 Lot under the Pier is $12 for the day.
The new EXPO Metro Line get drops you off two blocks from the Pier. Guests must be 21 and over. Admission prices: “Little Fish (GA): $65 . “Big Fish” (VIP): $90 includes a VIP Lounge presented by Santa Monica Seafood with special tastings from FIG, Tar & Roses and Red O, curated cocktails, and preferred seating, Plus one-hour early check-in at 3pm. LA Weekly’s Brunch at the Races – Sunday, October 15th

This Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m, L.A. Weekly will be hosting their 3rd annual Brunch at the Races. Place your bets at Santa Anita Park and enjoy brunch fare from more than 30 of L.A.’s best breakfast, brunch and lunch restaurants. Favorite participating restaurants include Barbara Jean, Du-pars, Fred 62, Little Dom’s, Poppy + Rose and Pez Cantina.

Los Angeles magazine’s Food Event – Sunday, October 15th

Prepare yourself for one of LA’s greatest food events, which will be happening at the gorgeous Saddlerock Ranch in the Malibu Hills from 2pm until 5pm. As you stroll along the verdant meadow, you will enjoy tastes from 40 of the best chefs in LA, plus drinks from LA sommeliers and bartenders, and demos from some very talented chefs, like the guys from Badmaash. Some of our favorite participating restaurants are Baran’s 2239, bone kettle, 71 Above, Cassell’s,  Scopa Italian Roots, Simone, Estrella on Sunset, Republique, The Bellwether, and Guerilla Tacos.

Do wear flats so your heels don’t sink into the grass, and we recommend closed-toe shoes, because you may be parking in a pasture. Tickets are $130 (admission includes all demonstrations, food, beverages, and parking fees). Sales end on October 14. The admission on the day of is $140. After-party tickets are an additional $15 with Food Event ticket; guests receive entry to The Food Event after-party at Malibu Cafe at Calamigos Ranch. GET YOUR TICKETS HERE!

The March of Dimes Signature Chef Auction.

The 2017 Signature Chefs Event takes place at 5pm at Union Station downtown. is a swanky evening of world-class cuisine, wine tasting and entertainment to benefit March of Dimes. It is an all-star roster with Sushi Nozawa’s SUGARFISH, Timothy Hollingsworth of Otium, Antonia Lofaso of Scopa Italian Roots, and Yoshiaki Matsumoto
of Mrs. Fish.
