I’d Eat That: Spicy Charred Edamame at Bluewater Grill in Redondo Beach

About three months ago, Bluewater Grill added this finger-food delicacy to their menu: charred edamame seasoned with olive oil and togarashi seasoning.

The combination of the earthy pods, the buttery oil, and the chile-based Asian seasoning can only be described as magical.  Its the best edamame I’ve ever had.

One bowl of charred edamame might not be enough. At just $4 per order, I’d advise everyone at the table to get their own.

The char made the difference in the flavor of the dish which is pretty much par for the course where ever its prepared.  Sea salt and other seasonings offer some diversions from the classic nuttiness, but charring the pods struck me as oddly delicious.

You can find the Spicy Charred Edamame ($3.95) on the menu at Bluewater Grill in Redondo Beach.  They’re open for lunch and dinner starting at 11:30 AM (10 AM on Sunday) and have Happy Hour from 3:30 to 6:30 PM, Monday through Friday.
