Funkiest Christmas record of all time? A strong contender, for sure, and my favorite from JB’s awesome set of Christmas albums, three in total, recorded between 1966 and 1970. The Godfather opens and closes this dynamite track with a heartfelt dedication to his fans. “People like you don’t grow on trees… you bought my records, come to see my show/ that’s a debt/ that I’ll always owe.” Hey, don’t mention it, man, the records were real good. Merry Christmas and a happy New Year to you too!
