Pot Party! Where To Find Upcoming Cannabis Events in LA August 2017 Edition

In these waning months of 2017, the companies that will be part of the retail weed scene next year are starting to show their faces and make an early effort to get their names out there. While it’s not possible to buy marijuana legally without a medical recommendation until January 1, it is possible to participate in a situation where it can be donated to a private club. You can then join that club and buy tickets to their events. Buyers of VIP tickets typically are presented with a donated gift bag, in addition to preferred seating at the event and other perks.

We had a blast at the two Stand Up And Take Your Clothes Off! events run by Grassfed and The Art of Edibles, at which comedians shared stage time with saucy burlesque dancers, while guests partook of samples of bud, concentrated oils, and various treats. The last such event appeared to be sold out or close to it, so word is obviously getting out and advance tickets purchase is always recommended. You may need to fill out an application to join a private club as part of your first ticket purchase, after which you’re in like Flynn.

Here are some pot parties coming up in the LA area.

Saturday, August 19 – Virtual Reality Elevated

Tonight in Culver City, you can attend a VR event at which you can puff to your heart’s content, and then walk a tightrope between the Twin Towers like Phillipe Pettit. Or, sure, hunt zombies and ride dinosaurs, if you think you can handle it. HTC Vive brings the fully immersive VR, award-winning strolling magician Alex Iverson brings the WTF, while Tilt Brush artist Liquid Light creates a 3-D mural on the wall. Grassfed and the Art Of Edibles are teaming up to present this one. Tickets are still available here.

Saturday, August 26 – Constellations Past Present & Future: An Event For Women Hosted By Women In Cannabis

This women-only event promises a “safe, magical and inspiring space for canna-curious women” including workshops and demos (including one from the intriguingly named “Canna-Sexual”, Ashley Manta), tarot readings, massages with infused topicals, beauty treatments, an essential oils bar where you can make your own, with samples for all and a marketplace for those who already have a medical recommendation. This event is being hosted by THC Design, Plastic Palmtree and Higher Beauty in the city of Long Beach. Get your tickets here.

Saturday, September 9 – Sgt Pepper’s 50th Anniversary Tribute

I bet Paul McCartney wishes this type of event had been more common when he was younger than 64. In addition to the vape bar and edible offerings, this DTLA event will include a talk with Apple Records art director and Lennon confidante John Kosh, moderated by KCSN DJ Les Perry, a listening session to the original LP in the dark (will it be the mono, stereo, or 2017 remix?), and Beatles tribute performances by local artists including Erez Sivan and Julia Othmer. This is another Grassfed/ Art of Edibles promotion. Tickets can be purchased here.
