I remember a friend pointing out an article about a Star Wars themed burlesque parody last fall that was having a good run in Australia. It sounded really exciting and it was a titillating idea to play with, but I was pretty sure I wouldn’t be going to Australia anytime soon.
It appears the force is strong in this one and what was once down under is now coming up top states, Specifically to California, for a sizzling week run. “The Empire Strips Back – A Burlesque Parody” will be hitting the shores of California for a limited six-city California run from May 31-June 9, 2018. The Empire Strips Back hits the Ace Theatre DTLA on June 1, 2018. You will soon get know the dark side – your darkest fantasies come to life or should I say, the naughty side of the force in all of its varieties and suggestive glory!
Creator Russall S. Beattie headed the original production back in 2011. The Empire Strips Back initially was booked in a small, 150 seat room in Sydney for a one-off, three-night run. Then fast-forward to six national sold-out Australian tours of “The Empire Strips Back” which has now enjoyed an enthusiastic audience of over 60,000 in its various runs in Australia, with a Huffington Post video feature that went viral with 20+ million views in 2016.
“The Empire Strips Back – A Burlesque Parody” takes all the fundamentals of the Star Wars™ trilogy and sauces them up with a high energy sexy parody combining two of the most powerful forces in the universe: Star Wars™ and striptease!
Featuring all the classic Star Wars™ characters in fun and sexy vignettes that takes audiences to a galaxy far, far away! The Empire Strips Back creates unforgettable theatrical versions of the beloved franchise. This night of burlesque is a mix of song and dance of your favorite Star Wars characters. You can be transported into this world to witness menacing and seriously sexy Stormtroopers, a dangerously seductive Boba Fett, tantalizing Twi’leks, a lady-like Skywalker, and of course, sweet and sexy Droids. Darth Vader will even explore her feminine side with unexpected shenanigans from the dark side.
