Phantom Galleries (the force behind those intriguing pop up galleries in vacant storefronts and urban spaces) gets phantasmagorical Saturday night in Long Beach with a solo exhibition of over 30 psychedelicious drawings by long-time, So. Cal. artist, Mark Ambler.
Ambler’s work evokes that “Sunshiny Day” feeling. Fantastic creatures merge and intertwine amidst organic forms. Stylized figures-often cheeky, always whimsical-cavort or confront the viewer. His vivid colors and hidden pictures are sure to delight fans of 1960-70’s Pop Illustration, refugees from Pepperland and those of us who still happily call marking pens, Magic!
MARK AMBLER SOLO EXHIBITION curated by Wesley Pacleb and Mark Lucero. Public Opening: 6/11/11 from 6 to 10pm. For more info contact wezz@hellokitty.com
