Tonight starting at 6pm the LA Zoo will host its first annual Brew at the Zoo beer festival. Because what goes better with drinking than heavy machinery? Wild animals! The animals will be on view while twenty California craft beer breweries pour the suds. Local brews include Eagle Rock Brewery, El Segundo Brewing Co., and the Inland Empire Brewing Co., as well as ciders from Crispin’ Cider Co. and Fox Barrel Cider.
According to the zoo, “Guests receive a five ounce collectible glass upon arrival and 12 sampler tickets to taste the night away during the three-hour experience.” If you have any qualms about consumption being limited, a typical glass for a beer flight is 4 to 5 ounces. So that’s basically like downing three flights. Any more than that and you might decide it’s a good idea to climb into the gorilla enclosure.
Entertainment will be provided by KROQ’s “Locals Only” L.A. based rock bands – Heartstop, The Steelwells, The Fling, Tijuana Panther and Upstream. Too bad they could only find one band with an appropriate name. Pub-style foods will be available. The event benefits GLAZA, the Greater Los Angeles Zoo Association. Presale Tickets are $40 and we recommend buying them ahead of time online. Tickets at the Door: will be $45 (if still available). Designated Driver Tickets are $25 and do not include a tasting glass or beer tickets with admission. All guests must be 21 years of age or older.
