Way to Make a Cheap Buck, Canter’s

TMZ reported that Canter’s Deli is having a sale on Cherry Pie this weekend in honor of Warrant frontman Jani Lane who was found dead Thursday afternoon in Woodland Hills. The cause of death is yet to be determined.

Wondering if it was perhaps an internet hoax, I called Canter’s bakery and was told slices of cherry pie are being sold for $1 today and tomorrow. The main thing the employee wanted to clarify was that it was not an entire pie for $1. She hung up before I could ask about the “tribute”. Maybe the 80-year-old Canter’s waitresses are huge fans of 80s hairband, Warrant, but it seems more like a cheap publicity stunt. I have to wonder if members of his family would appreciate the gesture as a touching tribute or if it would leave a bad taste in their mouths.
