On Friday, 1/13, WWA Gallery celebrates the new era of portraits with the group show, About Face, “a contemporary look at the classic genre of portraiture with an exhibition featuring some of the most talked about artists working in this medium.”
Featuring drawings and paintings from 35 artists hailing from all over the country, the show will be a diverse exhibit, including the “surreal, intense paintings” of Van Arno, the “detailed and macabre” drawings of Laurie Lipton, and “the vivid and anatomical stylings of Charlie Immer.”
Portraiture may be the most elemental of all artworks, present in every culture and era. It speaks not only about the subject, but about the artist, and about the culture. About Face carries that history into the modern backdrop “About Face isn’t just a survey of contemporary portraiture, it’s a mirror of contemporary life.”
Opening Reception: Friday January 13th, from 8- 11pm. Several of the artists will be in attendance and refreshments will be provided. In the Culver City Art District. 9517 Culver Blvd Culver City, CA 90232. The show runs through February 11th, 2012.
