May Day Street Closures in Downtown Los Angeles

Several protest groups, in celebration of International Worker’s Day will be converging on Downtown Los Angeles on Tuesday, May 1st.  As a result there will be numerous street closures starting at approximately 5 a.m. and continuing through the afternoon.  The following map shows the various street closures.

For those who care to know, May 1st is also Law Day in the United States! 36 U.S.C. § 113 provides that May 1st is Law Day and the code states, in part: Law Day, U.S.A., is a special day of celebration by the people of the United States—

(1) in appreciation of their liberties and the reaffirmation of their loyalty to the United States and of their rededication to the ideals of equality and justice under law in their relations with each other and with other countries; and
(2) for the cultivation of the respect for law that is so vital to the democratic way of life.
