The Aquarium of the Pacific’s third annual Urban Ocean Festival is coming up on May 5 and 6. Celebrating the “convergence of wildlife, industry, recreation, and nature that takes place off the coast of Southern California in our urban ocean” the festival will feature art, fashion and harbor cruises all connected to the ocean surrounding the Los Angeles-Long Beach Harbors area.
On the pre-festival cruise, fashions from designers Dara Khim and Amanda Hunn, modeled by Yasmine Solamon and Caitlin Code respectively, were featured from the Trashin Fashion show demonstrating how recycled and found materials can make fabulous outfits.
Ocean Art show winners Dominique Ovalle (Paining) and John Trevino (Photography) showed their works.
A sustainable food cooking demonstration of peppered sardines taco was presented by Seafood for the Future and Renaissance Long Beach’s Sip Lounge.
On the Harbor Cruise from Long Beach to Los Angeles Harbors, facts that you may have never known can be learned, such as the mouth of the Los Angeles Rivers feeds into the Pacific Ocean!
You can also see the mountains of recycled scrap metal that serve to remind us why conservation is so important. An learning experience that is also a blast can not be beat!
