Most Angelenos are familiar with King’s Hawaiian Bread, but few people know that there is a factory in our very own Torrance with an attached restaurant. Lunch hosts such Hawaiian favorites as Kalua Pork, Chicken Katsu and Spam Musubi. But we are all about the breakfast. The Island Breakfast Combo — French Toast, 2 eggs, and bacon, Spam or Portuguese sausage can be made into a crazy breakfast sandwich all wrapped in sweet Hawaiian toast. But the Local Place Scramble is where things get really exciting. Eggs are scrambled with char siu, the sweet pork that comes in char siu bao, green onions, cheese, and kamaboko, the pink-tinged fishcake found in Udon. There are also delicious pastries if you can’t hang with the fishcake, brah.
