2012: Space Shuttle Endeavour’s Final Odyessy

Photos by Paula Lauren Gibson/AfroPix

The anticipated couple of thousand spectators showed up at the intersection of Crenshaw Blvd and Martin Luther King Boulevard to celebrate the arrival of the Space Shuttle Endeavour for its final leg to the California Science Center. The Shuttle’s arrival was about 5 hours late. But the crowd was not disappointed and was entertained by a spectacular dance performance by the Debbie Allen Dance Academy and the Lulu Washington Dance Theater; vocal performances by Patty Austin, James Ingram; poetry reading of “Hawk” by Vivian Ayers-Allen; and other performers. Just generally a good time.
