This Thursday night at the Echoplex as part of the Red Bull Sound Select showcase featuring Zola Jesus, you can have your chance of voting in a local LA band to be part of Red Bull’s SXSW showcase taking place in Austin, TX on 3/12 at Gatsby’s.
My vote goes for Beach Party. A band so new, they can probably count how many months they’ve been together on one hand, yet so good they are already slated to open up for The Black Lips playing The El Rey Theater on March 21st.
Beach Party’s sound is exactly as you would imagine… a beach party. The kind of music you’d play at such an event: garage sounds with dueling vocals, heavy reverb, and a hint of 60’s nostalgia.
