Leimert Park Village has been in the news lately!
What few people know is that Leimert Park is a beautiful, peaceful and quiet neighborhood nearby. Nevertheless, the block club members are known as citizen activists since the club’s beginnings in the early 1980s. According to the club’s history: “The club acts as an umbrella organization for residents and block clubs to provide a place for voicing and synthesizing neighborhood concerns. It offers a consistent location and stable structure through which neighbors can come together with public officials to solve safety and quality of life issues. The Club encourages blocks to organize and network within themselves as social and neighborhood watch groups.” The Block Club addresses the important issues facing the community from destroying trees for the routing of the Space Shuttle Endeavour to Crenshaw Subway Stop issues and everything in between.
