Taste of the Nation Laguna Beach announced today that star chef Ludo Lefebvre has joined the list of chefs participating in support of Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry program. Chef Ludo will be attending the event by traveling from his renowned restaurant, Trois Mec in Los Angeles. The event, on Saturday, June 8, 2014, will offer guests an opportunity to taste delicious farm-to-table cuisine prepared by talented chefs while enjoying an excellent choice of craft cocktails, beer and wine. San Pelligrino Waters will also be featured at this gourmet charity event.

Judy Walker, the Taste of the Nation Laguna Beach’s Director, said, “Taste of the Nation Laguna Beach and No Kid Hungry are thrilled to have Ludovic—or “Ludo”—Lefebvre participating in this year’s event. Ludo is the only chef in Los Angeles to receive the prestigious Mobil Travel Guide Five Star Award at two different restaurants, L’Orangerie in 1999 and 2000 and Bastide in 2006. Ludo has been named one of the “World’s 50 Greatest Chefs” by Relais & Chateaux and was nominated by the James Beard Foundation for a “Rising Star Chef” Award. Ludo just wrapped up starring alongside Anthony Bourdain, Nigella Lawson and Marcus Samuelsson on ABC’s prime time hit show, The Taste, as well with the UK version of the show, and was pronounced the winner of the hit competition series in the US. We can’t wait to see what he will be preparing at the Montage on June 8!”.

Chef Craig Strong, Executive Chef of Studio, Montage Laguna Beach’s Signature Restaurant, will be spearheading the culinary side of events. Also from the Montage will be Chef Lee Smith, Executive Pastry Chef. Other celebrity chefs attending the event to cook for guests will include some coming in from across the country such as Chef Nina Compton of the Fountainbleau in Miami Beach and Chef Alan Wong, from Alan Wong’s Restaurants in Honolulu, Hawaii. In addition to the recently added Chef Ludo Lefevre, Chef David Coleman of Chinina Steakhouse in Long Beach will be attending. From Los Angeles, Chef Brian Huskey of Picca, Mo-Chica and Paice will attend. From Orange, Chef Greg Daniels of the Haven Gasttropub will be cooking, along with Costa Mesa’s Chef Alan Greeley of the Golden Truffle.

Local beverages will be poured by Congenial Spirits, pouring from their California distilled brands such as Cedar Ridge Distillery’s Iowa Bourbon Whiskey and Single Malt Whiskey, their Cedar Ridge Dark Rum and Griff’s Cowboy Whiskey. Charbay Whiskey, Tequila Tapatio and Mezcal Siete Misterios will round out the choices from them. Haven Gastropub will be pouring craft beers while Kessler-Haake Wines will be pouring a selection of their wines.

The exciting culinary and charitable event will be held at the Montage in Laguna Beach on June 8, 2014. Music will be provided by the local band, the Kalama Brothers. Dara the Bow Girl, MasterChef Junior USA will also make an appearance. All this will be enjoyed with the panoramic backdrop of the Pacific Ocean from the Montage’s patio.

Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry campaign is designed to ensure that all children get the healthy food that they need. Right now, one out of five children in America struggles with hunger, but the program is working on eradicating that. Last year’s Taste of the Nation Laguna Beach raised over $200,00 to help provide over two million meals for children.

Event packages are available for this worthwhile contribution to charity. They include a Celebrity Chef Tasting and a VIP ‘Meet the Chefs’ Reception with an after party mingle. Signature ocktails, wine and special bottled waters will also be available at the event. The event will start at 4:00 p.m. on June 8.
