With yesterday’s opening of the Loteria Grill, visitors to LA can finally get a taste of authentic and delicious Mexican food as soon as they arrive, or even take some tacos on the plane as they depart. I would have a carry-on stuffed with Jimmy Shaw’s tacos! And in case of emergency, that hot sauce could be used as a weapon. The menu will include mole, ceviche, pozole, the stews known as gusisos, as well as other regional Mexican specialties. Loteria will also be serving breakfast. I can vouch for the chilaquiles, which I sampled last weekend. Oh, and they have tasty margaritas to combat your fear of flying.
LAX’s Delta Terminal 5 opened an outpost of the Farmers’ Market that has been at 3rd and Fairfax for 80 years. Loteria Grill will join Farmers’ Market brethren Monsieur Marcel Gourmet Market and Bistro, T&Y Bakery, Coffee Corner, Bennett’s Ice Cream, Magee’s Nuts, The Dog Bakery, Dragunara Spice Bazaar, and Magic Nut and Candy Bar.
LAX has been upping the stakes at LAX by bringing in a number of classic LA restaurants including Pink’s Hot Dogs, La Brea Bakery, and Coles. Relatively new kids on the block are all top notch restaurants – Ford’s Filling Station, BOA and Lucky Fish. For those flying first class, there is Petrossian Caviar and Champagne Bar.
