Having risen from the ashes of some of L.A.’s coolest bands, Charlie Overbey and The Broken Arrows make their live performance debut at the Viper Room on the Sunset Strip on Thursday, November 6.
Charlie – who hails from ’90s Sunset Strip band Big Bang Babies, cowpunk band Custom Made Scare, Deadbolt and Charlie And The Valentine Killers – has evolved into a pretty serious songwriter. He recruited veteran rockers Jimmy James (The Hangmen, The Masons), Dave James (The Superbees), Jordan Shapiro (The Supersuckers), Joe Ginsberg (Chuck Ragan), and new kid Charlie Nice to round out his stellar new band, The Broken Arrows.
COBA take their musical cues from legends such as Tom Petty, Springsteen, The Allman Brothers, Jackson Browne, Thin Lizzy, Creedence and The Replacements. The show is in support of their debut record, The California Kid, which is set to be released soon. The band is gearing up for some heavy road work, which will include dates in the U.S., as well as Europe and Asia.
Of working with The Broken Arrows, Charlie says, “We’ve all lived a lot, we’ve all toured a lot, and we’ve all loved and lost a lot. I believe this is the key to a group of dudes that can relate to one another, and hang with mutual respect. We’re a cohesive traveling unit and a Band Of Brothers – only with this kind of bond can the magic translate on stage.”
Charlie produced The California Kid himself. It was mixed by Ted Hutt (known for his work with The Gaslight Anthem, The Old Crow Medicine Show, DKM, Lucero and more) and Paul Inder (composer and son of Lemmy). Look forward to an interview with Charlie when the album is released at the beginning of 2015. Until then, check out the title track below, and witness the magic on November 6!
Also on the bill are The Coffis Brothers and Casper & The Bad Spirits. Doors open at 8pm.
