Loyola Marymount University’s radio station KXLU 88.9 FM started its 10-day fundrazor yesterday. Many of us remember hearing historic bands like the Minutemen and Victor Banana play live on air, and if you knew one person, you could even hang out at the station and watch. KXLU has always been known for great DJs like Stella, Adam Bomb, Justin Thyme and Splat Winger. The station has kept underground music flowing and the airwaves free with great shows like Stray Pop, Noise Pollution and Demos Listen. Now it’s time to give back.
The fundrazing drive continues 24-hours-a-day, with live in-studio performances by So Many Wizards, Dirt Dress, and Corners at 7pm on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Call the station’s pledge line at 310.338.KXLU (5958) any time, or donate online at www.kxlu.com from October 3rd to the 12th. A variety of KXLU swag will be offered to those making pledges, including KXLU merch as well as CD and vinyl compilation packs.
