For less time that it takes to see some movies (think Interstellar), Duchie and Louisxxx invite you to an incredible art and movie festival this Saturday, November 8, from 3-5pm at Lab Art. The show will feature artistic interpretations of the artists’ favorite films.
Los Angeles resident Louis Cannizzaro is an American artist born in Buffalo who spent much of his early life in New York City. He has paintings in collections all over the world and his work has been shown in Paris, New York, Los Angeles, Woodstock, Aspen and Boulder, CO.
His work has appeared in many esteemed publications including Rolling Stone, Vanity Fair, the European Art Journal and Exhibit A. Louis has created jewelry, clothing, and furniture lines based on his designs. He is also the author of the book To My Sweetheart.
Jaq Dutch is a self-taught “Guerrilla” artist from Los Angeles. Her work focuses on the visual balance, and color flow of a character and its background. Dutchie’s work uses distinctive saturated hues with fantasy inspired imagery and intriguing concepts. Her style has a pop surrealism and street art reminiscent of her childhood. She is influenced by the “Masters of Magic” – Jim Henson, Salvador Dali, Vaughn Bode, Brian Froud, Ralph Bakshi, and Disney classics.
Dutchie had an interest in art since early childhood and began to sketch and paint with more focus at age eight. After high school, she experimented with acrylics on cardboard, wood, and canvas and spent the next 4 years painting and designing sporadically, stashing her creations in her closet. In 2010, she decided to pursue her art full time and in August of that year, she created a hub for her artwork with her partner Noe Photos called GUD Guerrilla.
