Beat Recommends: Bugs Bunny At The Symphony This Weekend At Hollywood Bowl

This weekend, the LA Philharmonic will be celebrating the 25th anniversary of a favorite local tradition – classic WB cartoons on screen with a live orchestra providing the soundtrack. This show’s played the Bowl about 20 times through the years, and if you’ve never been, this is a golden opportunity.

Conductor George Daugherty will lead the Phil through these anniversary shows, which promise the “live orchestra premiere” of “Long-Haired Hare” — about time, considering the cartoon takes place at the Bowl itself — along with other beloved oldies, like “What’s Opera, Doc” and “The Rabbit Of Seville.” Prima ballerina Ida Nevasayneva and current WB voice actor Bob Bergen will be on hand for visual and vocal support. The very idea that I might get to hear 17,000 people singing “Kill da wabbit!” in unison has this writer on edge.

Bugs Bunny at the Symphony, at Hollywood Bowl, Friday, August 14 and Saturday, August 15, at 8pm. Tickets $22.50 to $185 at Ticketmaster.
