This Sunday, October 18th, from 5pm until 8pm, the community-minded and heavily DIY EastSide Food Festival will be celebrating local and sustainable cuisine in LA, featuring locally owned and operated businesses. When considering which regions are “Eastside,” festival organizers decided to include everything east of Western. That means everywhere from DTLA to Koreatown to Highland Park will represent. Restaurants include LA Beat favorites Alimento, Starry Kitchen, Belcampo, BS Taqueria, Momed, El Condor, Pine and Crane, The Little Jewel of New Orleans, and The Black Cat. Enjoy drinks from Angel City Brewery, Bombay Sapphire, Kikori Whiskey and more.
Besides great food and drinks, the festival will present celebrity and chef appearances, live DJs, book signings, a nail salon creating food-themed nail art, a photo booth, raffle prizes, and more. There will be a discussion panel on “Food is the New Rock” hosted by Zach Brooks (Midtown Lunch) and featuring Noelle Scaggs of Fitz and The Tantrums, Chef Zach Pollack of Alimento Restaurant, Jason Stewart (Them Jeans), Podcaster, DJ, and Chef in the making, plus everyone’s favorite banana man, Chef Nguyen Tran (Starry Kitchen / Button Mash). Thug Kitchen will present a cooking demo and Charles Babinski, the winner of the 2015 US Barista Championships, co owner of G&B Coffee and Go Get Em Tiger, will present a coffee demo hosted by musician and coffee connoisseur Daedelus.
“EastSide Food Festival is proud to partner with PATH, a non-profit organization in support of their local programs benefitting homeless individuals and families in the Silver Lake and surrounding EastSide areas of Los Angeles.” The event will take place at Mack Sennett Studios at 1215 Bates Ave. Los Angeles, CA 90029.
