The Music Center and Grand Park’s NYELA

Once again, DTLA invites you to welcome 2016 at the West Coast flagship New Year’s Eve countdown with more than 50,000 of your closest friends spread across 90 acres, from The Music Center Plaza to City Hall (Hope Street to Main Street) and from Temple Street to 2nd Street. Grand Park + The Music Center’s N.Y.E.L.A. features food, photo booths, large and huge projections. Like seriously huge. Bands will be performing on three stages and include Ry Toast, Lost Midas, Waterbed, QUITAPENAS and Louis Vivet. There will be art installations from the likes of  from DoArt Foundation + The Ubuntu Dance Project, and Self Help Graphics & Art. The event begins at 8pm DEC 31. Projections and music run all night. Food service runs through midnight. Event ends 1am January 1. FREE

Security is on everyone’s mind these days, so there will be a bag check upon entry. NO large bags  Coolers / Chairs / Outside Alcoholic Beverages / Projection Devices / Narcotics / Coolers / Firecrackers / Explosives / Firearms / Vaping  / Drones / Frowny Faces. You heard me, frowners!

The Queen Mary

All aboard the ultimate New Year’s Eve adventure! The Queen Mary’s globetrekker-themed bash will feature music, performances and food and drink inspired by these famous cities: New Orleans, Moscow, Beijing, Tokyo, Hollywood, Havana and Lahaina. Your ticket includes admission to all of the ship’s “tourist-class” decks, salons and bars featuring live bands, entertainers and DJs, plus a view of the midnight fireworks. Reservations are required to dine onboard. $99. VIP $249.

Gladys Knight at The Walt Disney Concert Hall

7pm

Join the eight-time Grammy-winning “Empress of Soul” as she performs selections from her decades of hits, like “Midnight Train to Georgia,” “I Heard it Through the Grapevine” “Neither One of Us (Wants to be the First to Say Goodbye)” and “If I Were Your Woman.” You’ll also enjoy a complimentary glass of award-winning Moreno BHLV sparkling wine at the pre-show reception. Not only that, after an evening of Pop, Gospel, and R&B with Gladys Knight, you will be right in the midst of all the Music Center and Grand Park craziness, so you can enjoy the light show too. TRAPEZE at Syrup Loft

TRAPEZE at Syrup Loft will feature “the finest American pioneer DJs of this exploding genre and their crème de la crème burlesque stage show, all within the slammenest secret casbah-speakeasy venue this side of Europe.” Scheduled to appear are The Vaude Villainz (Electro-Swing ClubHollywood) featuring the sultry chanteuse Sevon Caneri, The Gentlemen Callers of LA, Evie Lovelle, Iza La Vamp, Valerie Stunning, Stilletta Maraschino, Mojo Deville, Dasha Cayenne and Ashley Hayward. These ladies are going to add a lot of sizzle leading up to the evenings champagne countdown NYE toast! Syrup Loft is located 939 Maple Ave #301 in DTLA. If you are a veteran of The Cathay, Raji’s, or Mr T’s Bowl, this is your new home away from home. A welcoming and cozy club with a spacious patio, Cafe NELA is run by and for musicians. Liquid Kitty’s Wild (and final) New Year’s Eve Bash – This classic dive/lounge be ringing in the New Year with wild abandon. DJ Renato will be spinning his amazing 60’s soul, funk, old hip hop, rare groove all vinyl revue.There will be complimentary noise makers and a countdown at midnight! FREE
