Fabrik Expo Kick Off Starts Friday And Goes All Weekend Long!

Fabrik LG1

The inaugural kick off party of Fabrik Expo opens Friday with a gala celebrating an evening of creativity and philanthropy. Fabrik is a new multi-disciplinary art fair focused on the convergence of art, design and architecture. The Opening Night proceeds will benefit Inner-City Arts, a nonprofit arts organization based in Downtown Los Angeles that provides professional art instruction to under-served youth. Fabrick Expo will add that little extra buzz to a fun DTLA arty weekend.

Fabrik Expo’s artists this weekend will be ffrom Japan, Mexico, Spain and all over the US.  These artists rarely have the opportunity to participate in a gallery setting or art fairs with exposure like this weekend at Fabrik. Some of the participating artists will be: Performance art by celebrated Cuban artist Angel Delgado, Live mural painting by Art at Gen Art featured artist, Cassian Lau from Hong Kong, Neon art installation by Cleon Peterson and Lisa Schulte, Performance art and installation by Japanese artist Nobuho and Skyscape, a site-specific installation by design collective Open for Humans.

There will be a performance by “Synaesthesia Playground.” Synaesthesia is the idea of the blending of senses where sound can translate into color and mixes the context of our senses and our perceptions in an unexpected way. The Synaesthesia Team of artists, headed by Nagasawa, who has specially designed  at suit made from “woven” optical fiber is designed to respond to bodily rhythms. They will will use sensors that monitor the heartbeat, body movement, and body temperature to define the sound of this performance. Team Synaesthesia are: Visual Artist, Nobuho Nagasawa / Pianist, Jocelyn Ho / Composers, Daniel Weymouth, Anne-Sophie Andersen, Sidney Boquiren, Jocelyn Ho (New York), Celeste Oram (New Zealand), Andrew Batt-Rawden (Australia) / Software developers, Andrew Batt-Rawden, Drew Petersen (Brooklyn) / Computer scientist Roy Shilkrot (Israel / Boston) / Fashion Designers, Bopha Hul, Troy Arnold of HUL ARNOLD.

Part of the celebration this weekend at Fabrik Expo will be the opportunity to win a curated wardrobe from iiJen, a grunge and glam-inspired line perfect for bold and jet-setting fashionistas. Gen Art’s iiJen line are worn by Kendall Jenner, Chiara Ferragni, Nicole Scherziner, Snoop Dog, Kate Hudson and Nicky Hilton. iiJin is a Korean word that means “precious”. Each iiJin piece is like a fashionable and valuable work of art.

This is an excellent add-on for a cut and paste weekend where you have the option to make DTLA your action distennation with LA Art Show at the LA Convention Center and be a part of the first ever Fabrik Expo for a unique Art weekend explotion!
