On Thursday, March 3rd, Food Fare will celebrate its 50th anniversary at Barker Hangar in Santa Monica. The event, which started as a cooking demonstration with Julia Child in 1979, has become Planned Parenthood LA’s biggest fundraiser of the year. Enjoy treats from hundreds of LA’s best restaurants, caterers, wineries, breweries, libations and vendors, plus entertainment, raffles and auctions. There will be two sessions: a daytime session from 11:00 AM – 2:00PM, and an evening session from 6:30 PM – 9:30 PM. The evening session appears to have more participants and more “celebrity” chefs.
Participating restaurants include A.O.C., Auntie Em’s, Angelini Osteria, Bar Pinxto, Border Grill, Chichen Itza, Craft, Drago Centro, Girasol, Jar, Knuckle & Claw, Lucques, Mexikosher, Mud Hen Tavern, Pinches Tacos, Playa Provisions, Salt & Straw ice cream, Tavern, Rose Cafe, Starry Kitchen at Button Mash, the always philanthropic Pink’s Hot Dogs, and the soon-to-close Joe’s Restaurant. This year, Planned Parenthood Los Angeles (PPLA) is recognizing its very first Restaurateur of the Year. “The honor has been proudly presented to Jenny Rush, head and founder of the Blue Plate Restaurant Group in Los Angeles.”
Tickets for Food Fare are now available on the website or by calling (213) 284-3300. Advance purchase tickets for Food Fare 2015 are $150 for the daytime session (11:00 AM – 2:00PM) and $250 for the evening session (6:30 PM – 9:30 PM). PPLA Food Fare 2016 will take place at Barker Hangar located at 3021 Airport Ave, Santa Monica, CA 90405.
