Depressed Cake Shop Pops up May 6th and 7th

untitledCakes are supposed to be cheerful. All the time. It must be very exhausting having so much pressure put on you. The people at the Depressed Cake Shop understand and will be selling gray baked goods to raise money and awareness for mental health issues. Along with delicious cakes by local artisans, there will be a curated photo gallery by the Broken Light Collective, and a limited edition t-shirt created by Wear Your Label.

The Depressed Cake Shop was first established in 2013 in the United Kingdom, and has raised over $100,000 for charities around the world by engaging local bakers to donate and sell gray baked goods. The pop up at Streetcraft LA in Santa Monica pop-up will benefit the St. Joseph Center in Venice.

“Broken Light’s main goal is to create a safe and accepting environment where photographers of all levels who are affected by mental health issues can display their work, as well as inspire one another to keep going and keep creating, despite the dark or scary places in which they may find themselves.”

“Wear Your Label sparked as a small idea: clothing to create conversations about mental health. We wanted to encourage individuals to take ownership over their mental health, rather than fear the labels that so often define us.”

The event is FREE. Come join us for cake, music, art and wine.

Please email stephanie@depressedcakeshop.com if you would like to bake or volunteer.
