Sunday, May 1st, the 6th annual Taste of the Eastside (TOTE) will return to the beautiful Los Angeles River Center and Gardens, whose mission-style villa with soothing fountains and cool shaded courtyards is worthy of hosting a wedding.
From 4pm until 8pm, you can enjoy the finest food and beverages from the neighborhood for only $40 ($50 at the door). Over two dozen restaurants will be providing limitless bites. Restaurants both familiar and new will be representing the Eastside. By that, we mean the Eastside of Hollywood, not East Los. The popular Los Feliz joint Little Dom’s, Kitchen Mouse, Ozu East Kitchen, plus LA Beat favorites Malo, Wax Paper, and Momed will all be there. To satisfy your sweet tooth, featured vendors include Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams, Palazzo Gelato and new kids on the block, Donut Farm.
Boutique wine merchants like Silver Lake Wines will be pouring. To satisfy your beer tooth, beer will be flowing from El Segundo Brewing, Eagle Rock and Highland Park Breweries, plus Strand Brewing Co. along with refreshing cocktails from Greyhound Bar and Three Weavers Brewing Co. KCRW DJs Anthony Valadez and Garth Trinidad will be spinning tunes, with live music from Charlie Overbey and The Broken Arrows.
The primary beneficiary and organizer of the event is the Rose Scharlin Cooperative Nursery School, LA’s oldest co-op for kids. A portion of the proceeds will also be donated to The Pablove Foundation and Friends of the Los Angeles River. So come spend a relaxing day picnicking in the shade at an event with a friendly and communal vibe.
