last night I saw my buddy jim brown perform “piano destruction concert” by raphael montanez ortiz along w/his colleague kuno funmaker at blum & poe which I understand was the first time the composer allowed another artist other than himself to do the piece. thinking about when mr ortiz first realized this work in 1966, I’m wondering if jimi hendrix was at all influenced, hmm… prolly more from pete townshend but I know my buddy jim sure is – read his story “we chopped down a tree to make an axe handle” to find out how much.
