It’s getting hard to keep up with all of these punker memoirs. It only makes sense though; it’s a short hop from songwriting to writing-writing. Tomorrow Keith Morris releases his contribution – My Damage: The Story of a Punk Rock Survivor, The book was written with ‘zine contributor and novelist Jim Ruhland, and released on Da Capo Press. The launch party will be held Friday at 7:30pm at Skylight Books
Morris’ memoirs probably have more meat than most, from his insider’s view into the nascent hardcore scene, drug and alcohol addiction, and his ongoing battle with diabetes. Starting nearly 40 years ago with Black Flag, Morris is still at the front of the stage and the top of the bill with his current bands, OFF! and FLAG.
The reading is free, but Skylight books expects the event to attract a crowd, they will be giving out numbered tickets to the book-signing line. Tickets will be available starting July 14, 2016 with a preordered copy of the book. My Damage retails for $24.99. Although we are all for supporting your local indie bookstore, of you can’t make it out of the house, it is an Amazon bestseller, It is offered there for $16.79. If you are all modern and shit, there is a Kindle version, but it is not any cheaper than the current hardcover price.
