This weekend, August 6th and 7th, the 3rd annual ScareLA, a hip haunting horror convention will be taking place at The Pasadena Convention Center. Fans can expect over 100,000 sq. ft. of attractions, vendors, entertainment and presentations. The 2016 convention theme is “Season of the Witch,” and all things witchy and spooky will be explored with workshops, children’s programs, haunt experiences, a screening room, classes and exclusive reveals of upcoming Halloween attractions and theme parks. Experiences include the original haunt BLOOD OFFERING : Legend of the Iron Witch, Mini-haunts The Rope, Creep LA, Heretic, the Zombie Ballet, the Haunted Campsite, Hollywood Horrors Museum, Dark Cabaret, three escape rooms, and much, much more.
Hosting this year is none other than Elvira, Mistress of the Dark. This event is a must for all fans of horror, haunted theme park attractions and home haunts. Other industry professionals making appearances are James Marshall (Actor, Twin Peaks), Leigh Whannell (Director, Writer, Actor “Saw,” “Insidious,” “Cooties”), as well as designers from Knotts Scary Farm and Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights, and Russ McKamey – yes, of McKamey Manor! Now is your chance to cozy up to him and get into the scariest haunt in California!
Perhaps the most exciting feature of this year’s ScareLA is The Dark Ride Project. Digital artist Joel Zika filmed the most historic dark rides around the world using a 360 degree camera. Starting August 6th and 7th, guests will be able to experience the resulting virtual reality haunt experience. Zika will also lead a panel about the documentary he made while filming the dark rides, some of which are more than 100 years old.
Tickets are $35 a day, $50 for both days, plus a variety of special tickets and upgrades. Buy your tickets here.
