Metropolitan Fashion Week: 3 Days of Fantastic Costumes and Haute Fashion!

Metropolitan Fashion Week

Metropolitan Fashion Week, presented by Century West BMW, is hailed as the most fashionable week in Hollywood. The event is produced and directed by Eduardo Khawam. My article last year, “Los Angeles Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2016: What It looked Like! describes the exceptional experience that Eduardo created. Last year’s grand finale was at Warner Bros. Studio in Burbank with the theme of “Fifty Shades of Pink,” and it was a fabulous night of red carpet displays with amazing costumes and substantial and elegant designs. Metropolitan Fashion Week spotlights over 150 works of Avant Garde and Couture Gowns that are original creations from international fashion and costume designers. This year promises to eclipse last year’s extravaganza with three main events.

The opening ceremonies for Metropolitan Fashion Week will kick-off at  The Original Farmers Market Los Angeles on September 22nd.  Designers will showcase costumes and fashions inspired by The Farmers Market, uniquely made of candy. The audience will have a vote on their favorite designs and the top three winners will be a part of the Closing Gala Fashion Show on October 1st.

The second Metropolitan event, La Vie en Blue, will be a Parisian-style benefit for Autism Speaks and will be held on September 29th at Warner Bros. Studio in Burbank. There will be a special performance of  “Zumanity” by Cirque du Soleil. The night will be an evening of haute couture fashion and costume extravaganza, include a runway show, auction and live Cirque du Soleil performances!

Metropolitan Fashion Week’s Closing Gala and Fashion Awards will take place Saturday, October 1st at Warner Bros. Studios. The awards will recognize outstanding contributions in costume design and celebrity styling. The Metropolitan Fashion Excellence Awards will recognize Costume Designer of the Year (Motion Pictures), Costume Designer of the Year (Television), Costume Designer of the Year (Live Performance), Celebrity Stylist of the Year, Fashion Program of the Year, Fashion Commentator of the Year, Fashion Blogger of the Year and Lifetime Achievement Award.

Besides the awards, there will be a one-of-a-kind fashion show featuring haute couture gowns and costumes. The designers for the evening are: Costume Designer Ricardo Soltero (with Special Performance by Domo Emigrantes), International Fashion Designer Erick Bendaña, Men’s Styles by Metropolitan Fashion Lab, Costumes by Cirque du Soleil Las Vegas, International Fashion Designer: OTT, Costume Designer: Inoe Vargas, Swimwear by: Adicora Swimwear & LASC, Couture Hat designer: Arturo Rios , Costume Designer Shokra. Doors open at 7:00pm and the Fashion Show & Awards start at 8:30pm. These are 3 great nights dedicated to costumes and haute fashion presented with grand style!
